We are working to resolve issue between IGP and British High Commissioner – Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of International Affairs and Regional Integration has intervened to mediate the dispute amongst the Inspector-Basic of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the British Large Commissioner, Harriet Thompson.

The Ministry in a push launch indicated that it “has observed with concern the rigorous public discussion that has been created by the conversation involving the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the British High Commissioner in Accra.”

 “In line with the basic diplomatic exercise of speaking with diplomatic Missions, ideally through immediate engagement, the Ministry needs to keep on being circumspect on its pronouncements on the subject,” portions of the release said.

The launch added that “We have thus initiated get in touch with with both equally the British High Commissioner and Inspector-Basic of Police (IGP) to take care of the situation at stake.”

The Ministry assured of “its dedication to the solid historic bonds amongst Ghana and the United Kingdom, which as a result of the years, have been deepened by, among the other people, the trade of substantial-level visits on both sides as nicely as amplified cooperation on trade, investments and safety.

“We take this chance to reaffirm the bonds of friendship and cooperation involving our two nations around the world.”

The British Superior Commissioner on Could 17, tweeted, “Oliver Barker Vormawor, convener of #FixTheCountry Movement, arrested once again, I realize for a motoring offence on his way to courtroom. I’ll be fascinated to see in which this goes.”

The tweet will come immediately after officers of the Motor Targeted traffic and Transport Division (MTTD) of the Ghana Law enforcement Services arrested Mr. Barker-Vormawor on Tuesday, May well 17 and was billed with careless and inconsiderate driving and granted bail to the tune of GH¢30,000 bail with two sureties.

But the tweet irritated the police, who in turn responded with a 4 paged letter signed by Dr Akufo Dampare.

According to the Law enforcement, Madam Harriet Thompson’s tweet was from either a “biased or uninformed position”, including that British isles Large Commissioner’s tweet violates the Vienna Conference on Diplomatic Relations

The Ghana Law enforcement Assistance requested the British Superior Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, to mind her have organization.

But the British isles Superior Commissioner also in an interview on GHone Television said that she did not be expecting a reaction from the IGP at all.
