Canada has apologised to China soon after a diplomat of the country’s Beijing Embassy purchased custom T-shirts that said “Wuhan” in the fashion of Wu-Tang Clan’s emblem.
The rap group’s brand is a stylised “W,” though Reuters reported that when the maker of the shirt posted images of it on-line, buyers of China’s Twitter-like Weibo explained the brand as on the lookout like a bat, which researchers have suspected to carry COVID-19 prior to it distribute to people in Wuhan, China, in 2019.
Upon learning about the shirts, overseas ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin informed the Connected Push that he required Canada to “extensively look into the incident and give China a very clear clarification.”
A spokesperson from Canada’s overseas assistance agency explained to Reuters that Canadian officers “regret the misunderstanding” and that the shirts were not manufactured to mock China’s reaction to COVID-19.

“The T-shirt brand designed by a member of the Embassy exhibits a stylised W, and is not meant to signify a bat. It was produced for the group of Embassy team functioning on repatriation of Canadians from Wuhan in early 2020,” the spokesperson reported.
Wu-Tang clan did not immediately react to Insider’s request for comment on their logo being applied.
